Research:
We use measures such as:
Eye-tracking & Pupillometry
Ecologically momentary assessment (EMA)
Cognitive
Tasks
Electrocardiography (EKG)
Impedance Cardiography (IMP)
Galvanic SkinConductance (GSR)
We ask questions such as:
1.
If there are many ways in which people can regulate their negative emotions, why do some people use maladaptive ways in an inflexible manner?
2.
How does maladaptive regulation develop?
3.
What are the underlying cognitive and physiological factors that may contribute to maladaptive regulation?
4.
Can we use our understanding of individual differences in order to tailor interventions that promote well-being? Indeed, focusing on emotion regulation provides a ready bridge to intervention research.
